I am Number 4
I Am Number Four, by Pittacus Lore, copyright 2010, is a fiction book for young adult readers. The book is about a select few children that have avoid death their whole lives. The book switches characters points of view throughout the book. These kid’s have to run their whole lives from people trying to murder them. The evil people who hunt them called Mogadorians, want to kill the children so they can take over the world. The powerful children are the only things stopping the Mogadorians from domination. The characters have to be courageous, strong and willing to fight, throughout their whole lives.
The story took the point of view from the various children in the book. The point of view changes throughout the book so you can see the lives of more than just one character. The story is about children that don’t even have names, because they are constantly running away, they change their identities, housing, and lifestyle. The book mostly is intended for teenagers and young adults. The genre is fiction, but there are many action and adventure stories tied within the book. Another thing I loved about the book was the writing style. The book is intense and keeps you on the edge of your chair. He kept me interested with the vivid detail and surplus of diallage. Pittacus Lore made this book very interesting to his audience (Young Adults) because there was a lot of action and fighting throughout the book.
Bravery and courage helped the characters protect themselves throughout the book. In I Am Number 4, Number 2 one of the special children, had to fight off many Mogadorians all at one time. She could have given up and let her world down, but she used her training and battled every one. She did not only protect herself she protected the people around her. Bravery helps the characters survive their lives, it is a amazing tool in this book.
I Am Number 4 is one of the best books I have ever read. It made me feel many different ways and I couldn't put it down. When a character would die it would make me feel sad, when they escaped the Mogadorians the book made me feel happy and cheerful. This book also made me think. When I was a child I wasn’t strong of brave. I was afraid of many things. I thought back and pictured myself with people hunting me down. I would be constantly stressed. Also I couldn’t last moving around as much as they do. This book made me realize how fortunate I was to have a home to live in. Also a great thing about this book was that it was unique. I had never read any other book like it, it tied in action with emotion to make a style of writing I have never read before.
The great amount of suspense and action kept me reading more and more. If you like a book with action, suspense and emotion you should read this book. This book did not only keep me reading but it made me reflect on my life and my personality.
